Bermuda’s Maritime Heritage

Cedar + Sail was developed by BDA, SailGP and AAC to highlight the remarkable contributions that Black sailors made to Bermuda’s rich maritime history.  These stories, pulled from a variety of historical sources, are collected here and help tell a story of resilience.  We encourage you to learn about the boats, the people and the places that influenced Bermuda’s maritime history and shaped sailing as we know it today.
